The Ondo State Police Command has arrested and arraigned three persons over an alleged Point of Sale (POS) fraud involving over N600,000 in Akure, the state capital.

While disclosing this development in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, noted that the suspects were apprehended following a complaint by a trader.

According to police sources, the case was reported on March 19, 2026, by Mrs. Obadaye Omotola, who operates a provision shop at Ire-Akari area of Akure.

“She explained that some individuals visited her shop pretending to purchase goods but cleverly distracted her during the transaction,” the statement said.

The statement further revealed that the suspects allegedly swapped her MoniePoint POS machine with another device and secretly observed her Personal Identification Number (PIN) during the process.

Investigations revealed that the suspects subsequently used the stolen device to transfer N632,000 from the victim’s account into accounts under their control.

Following the report, detectives launched an intelligence-driven operation which led to the arrest of Adeyemo Joshua, Opemiposi Olawale, and Oluwashola Blessing, while another suspect remains at large.

The police added that the suspects had been charged to court and remanded, while efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen funds and apprehend other members of the syndicate.
