As part of ongoing efforts to curb cult-related crimes in Ondo State, operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested three suspected cultists during a raid on a notorious blackspot in the Arakale area of Akure.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the operation was carried out under the leadership of the state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal.

According to the statement, operatives of the Tactical Intelligence Response Squad stormed the area at about 11pm on February 10, 2026, following credible intelligence on ongoing cult activities within the community.

The police said three suspects, identified as Damilola, popularly known as “2Gbaski,” 34; Uthman, 29; and Akinwale, age unconfirmed, were arrested during the operation and are believed to be members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.

Items recovered from the suspects included an axe, a beret cap, a Retevis walkie-talkie, sachets of tramadol, substances suspected to be marijuana, and an ice bunker.

The authorities said the suspects had made confessional statements linking them to cult-related activities and other criminal acts, adding that investigations are still ongoing to identify additional accomplices before prosecution.

The commissioner of police commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for providing operational support and strategic leadership that strengthened anti-cultism operations in the state.

Lawal also advised youths to shun cultism and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies, assuring that the command remained committed to sustaining peace and tackling criminal activities across Ondo State.
