The Ondo State Police Command has recorded two major breakthroughs in Akure after rescuing a kidnapped lady and foiling an armed robbery attempt in separate operations.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, in a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, said operatives acted on a distress call from a Good Samaritan.

According to the Police, the caller reported that four men in an unregistered Toyota Camry had abducted a woman around Weluwelu Street, Ilekun, Oda.

The suspects were intercepted near the Shoprite Roundabout, where officers rescued the victim, identified as Adebayo Oluwaseun, and arrested the four suspects.

The police said the car used for the operation was also recovered while the investigation continues.

In another operation, the command foiled a robbery attempt at Achievers Area, Sijuade, Akure. A commercial motorcyclist, Mr. Omoniyi Elijah, was attacked by two passengers who tried to snatch his motorcycle.

During the struggle, one of the suspects, identified as Ahmed Tijani, stabbed the victim multiple times before he was subdued. The victim’s cry for help attracted residents and officers from the Oda Division, who arrested Tijani while his accomplice escaped.

Police confirmed that the victim was treated and discharged two days later. The stolen motorcycle was recovered on November 5 after a follow-up investigation.
