Police rescue kidnapped victims in Oyo, arrest suspects in Taraba operation

The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims in Oyo State, following a coordinated operation by tactical teams of the Oyo State Police Command and local security outfits.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the rescue operation took place in Agede Village, Moniya, Ibadan, on February 25, 2025.

The victims—Olori Hakimat Sadia (50), Olori Rakyat (45), and Monsuru Ganiyu (20)—were abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji on February 24 by ten armed men. One of the suspected abductors has been arrested, while security operatives continue efforts to track down the remaining perpetrators.

In a separate development, police operatives in Taraba State, acting on credible intelligence, stormed a criminal hideout in the Wamunchi dry season rice farms on February 26.

The operation led to the arrest of 20 suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, a motorcycle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow. The suspects are currently being profiled, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has deployed the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) to intensify efforts for the safe rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was kidnapped on February 17 while traveling to Abuja.

The police have urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information on social media, warning that such actions could compromise ongoing operations.

Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the Nigeria Police Force assured citizens that it would continue dismantling criminal networks and working tirelessly to maintain peace and order across the country.
