Police warn against cult anniversary celebrations in Ogun, vow clampdown

The Ogun State Police Command has issued a public advisory warning against planned cult-related celebrations across the state, particularly a gathering known as “777,” which intelligence reports suggest may take place in various locations.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the Command disclosed that it has strengthened security operations across all Divisions and Area Commands to prevent any potential breach of peace.

“The Command will not tolerate any unlawful gatherings, processions, or anniversary events associated with cultism. Such activities will be met with swift and decisive police action,” the statement read.

Parents and guardians have been urged to warn their children and wards against participating in any suspicious gatherings, while young people are advised to avoid loitering or forming clusters in public spaces.

Security personnel have been placed on high alert and will not hesitate to disperse any group that poses a threat to public safety.

The Command also reiterated that anyone found in possession of firearms will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement officers to maintain peace and order throughout the state.
