Pres. Tinubu signs bills to boost development in geo-political zones

President Bola Tinubu has signed into law bills aimed at accelerating development across Nigeria’s geo-political zones, the presidency announced on Wednesday.
In a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, it was revealed that the President assented to the North-West Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2024, and the South-East Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, 2023.
The North-West Development Commission is established to facilitate the reconstruction of roads, houses, and business premises destroyed by various crises. It will also address poverty, literacy levels, ecological problems, and other related environmental or developmental challenges in the North-West states.
Similarly, the South-East Development Commission is tasked with ensuring the reconstruction and rehabilitation of roads, houses, and other infrastructure damaged in the region. It will also tackle ecological problems and other related environmental or developmental challenges in the South-East states.
President Tinubu further emphasized his commitment to building the nation on the principles of fairness, equity, and unity, adding that his administration aims to ensure equitable development, inclusive governance, and the provision of quality services to all Nigerians, regardless of their location, thereby strengthening national unity.
