Presidency commends Uzodimma over infrastructure projects in Imo

The Presidency has commended Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma for what it described as landmark infrastructure projects across the state, saying the developments reflect purposeful leadership and strong collaboration between the Federal Government and the state under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The commendation came after members of the Presidential Communications Team and more than 40 senior journalists inspected completed and ongoing projects during the Renewed Hope Ambassadors National Media Tour in Imo State.

The delegation visited the Imo Digital City, where smartphones and laptops are assembled, the ongoing 2,000-bed infectious disease centre being developed in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Heart Transplant Centre at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital in Orlu, the expansion of the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre in Owerri and a five-star hotel project being constructed by the state government.

Speaking during the inspection, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, said the projects demonstrated how the state was translating the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda into tangible development.

“When you talk about the micro of the Renewed Hope Agenda, such features are like this infrastructure and the human capital development we just saw in Orlu Local Government now — a 2,000-bed infectious disease centre at almost 85 per cent completion,” Dare said.

“We saw the oxygen plant, we saw the revitalisation of the healthcare centre that had been abandoned for several years and I think this is the kind of projects that are impactful to the people and that is what Renewed Hope is all about.”

The team also inspected the ongoing construction of the 19-kilometre Orlu–Akokwa–Uga Border Road linking Imo and Anambra states, which Dare said would help address gully erosion while improving interstate transportation and commerce.

He also praised the state government for resolving accreditation and certification issues that had prevented graduates of Imo State medical schools from obtaining specialist recognition.
