Presidency denies rumours of Tinubu’s ill health, medical trip
The Presidency has refuted reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu is ill and preparing to travel abroad for urgent medical attention.
AbdulAziz AbdulAziz, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Print Media, dismissed the allegations during an interview with BBC Hausa on Monday, describing them as false and misleading.
The denial follows a publication by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR), which quoted unnamed sources alleging that the President had been bedridden for several days, leading to his absence from key state functions.
The ICIR report further claimed that arrangements were underway by the President’s medical team to facilitate an overseas trip for treatment.
Reacting, Mr AbdulAziz maintained that there was no truth to the claims, stressing that the President was in good health and carrying out his duties.
He urged Nigerians to disregard the report, which he described as a fabrication intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary anxiety.
The Presidency has consistently maintained that President Tinubu remains focused on governance, despite recurring speculation about his health.
This latest rebuttal comes amid heightened political tensions and ongoing scrutiny of the President’s public engagements.
