The President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF), Engineer Toke Aka, has described the appointment of Mallam Shehu Dikko as head of the National Sports Commission (NSC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as both perfect and timely.
Aka expressed this in his congratulatory message to the former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) vice chairman, who was appointed to head the NSC on Wednesday, following the scrapping of the Ministry of Youth and Sports by President Tinubu.
He expressed optimism that the former chairman of the now-defunct League Management Company (LMC) will introduce fresh thinking and energy into sports development in Nigeria.
“Your wealth of knowledge, vast experience in administration, coupled with your marketing expertise, will go a long way in driving sport—the all-purpose vehicle for nation-building,” the statement read.
The NSF president urged the new NSC helmsman to prioritize the development of elite athletes in the country and give it the attention it deserves.
“We at the Nigeria Scrabble Federation would like to see our athletes receive the best training and treatment, as we see in America, Europe, and other parts of the world. The management of our national facilities and institutions should also be at its peak.”
Aka added, “We would love for the NSC, through the various sports federations, to help organize events that will develop the best athletes and prepare them for international competitions.”
“On behalf of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) and the sporting family in Nigeria and beyond, I congratulate you, Mallam Shehu Dikko, on this appointment. I believe you have the knowledge, understanding, and experience to make the National Sports Commission (NSC) work and bring the needed transformation to the sports sector,” stated Toke Aka in his message.
