Former Abia State Governor and Senator, Orji Uzor-Kalu, has assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu is fully aware of the hunger and economic challenges facing the country and is making courageous decisions to address them.

Speaking on Thursday during a New Year visit to Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the Ebonyi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area, Uzor-Kalu emphasized the president’s commitment to economic recovery.

“The President is currently taking hard decisions centered on economic development. He is bold to take such actions. Honestly, I might not have had the courage to make these decisions if I were in his position. But he is telling Nigerians that we need to start afresh,” Uzor-Kalu said.

Acknowledging the hardship faced by many Nigerians, the senator in a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) urged citizens to remain patient and optimistic.

“I am personally saddened by the situation, but I urge Nigerians to show understanding. Soon, we will see the light at the end of the tunnel,” he added.

Uzor-Kalu also spoke about his annual New Year visit to Okoro-Emegha, describing the tradition as a way to strengthen their relationship.

Okoro-Emegha, who once served as Uzor-Kalu’s aide during his tenure as governor from 1999 to 2007, expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed their strong bond.

“This annual visit signifies the lasting relationship we share. I am deeply thankful, and it only strengthens our connection,” Okoro-Emegha said.
