President Tinubu approves construction of key federal roads in Ekiti

By Boye Oyeyemi –

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the inclusion of two major road projects, the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti and Aramoko–Ijero–Ifaki Ekiti roads, in the 2026 Federal Government budget.

According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Ekiti State, Olayinka Oyebode, a letter confirming the approval has been forwarded from the Office of the President to the Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi, with Governor Biodun Oyebanji duly copied.

The approval followed a recent meeting between Governor Oyebanji and the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, and President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the poor condition of federal roads in Ekiti State was brought to the President’s attention.

The statement noted that the approval came amid public outcry and misinformation surrounding the state of federal roads, especially the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado route.

It added that the Tinubu administration had already awarded contracts for three federal roads in Ekiti and mobilised contractors to the site, while the state government had completed the Ado–Iworoko–Ifaki road and several other intercity projects.

Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his continued support and commitment to Ekiti’s development.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to collaborate with the Federal Government, private investors and development partners to improve the welfare of citizens.
