President Bola Tinubu has congratulated one of Nigeria’s most distinguished educators, Mama Christiana Modupe Ajibola, on her centenary birthday, celebrated on February 28, 2025.

Recognizing her decades-long impact on education in Nigeria, President Tinubu praised Mama Ajibola’s commitment to teaching, strong Christian values, and the lasting legacy she has built through the countless students she has mentored.

“Her remarkable journey of grace, wisdom, and perseverance serves as an inspiration to future generations,” the President stated, applauding her dedication and selfless service to the nation.

Born in Ise-Ekiti, present-day Ekiti State, on February 28, 1925, Mama Ajibola began her education in 1930 and later attended Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti. Her teaching career took her across Ekiti and Oyo states, and in 1960, she furthered her professional education at the University of Reading, UK.

A trailblazer in education, she also played a significant role in the Nigerian Girl Guides Association, establishing the first Ibadan Cadet Company and serving as Girl Guides Leader for Oyo North and South in the 1960s.

Among her former students are notable figures such as former INEC Commissioner Dr. Adekunle Ogunmola, Lead City University Chairman Professor Jide Owoeye, and award-winning author Dr. Wale Okediran.

As Mama Ajibola marks a century of life, President Tinubu wished her continued good health and happiness, recognizing her as a beacon of knowledge and service to the nation.
