President Tinubu congratulates Azu Ishiekwene on 60th birthday

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Azubuike Ishiekwene, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Leadership newspaper, on his 60th birthday, praising his contributions to Nigerian journalism.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Ishiekwene—fondly known as Azu—as a distinguished journalist with a career spanning over three decades.
Ishiekwene, a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), has held key roles in several prominent media organizations, including The Punch, ThisDay, and Leadership newspapers, where he currently serves as Group Managing Director.
President Tinubu commended Ishiekwene’s incisive commentary and analysis on politics, the economy, and society, noting that his contributions have earned him wide recognition and respect, even among those who may not always agree with his views.
“President Tinubu appreciates Ishiekwene’s brilliant and incisive commentary and analysis on Nigeria’s politics, the economy, and society,” the statement read.
The President also acknowledged Ishiekwene’s recent writings on digital media, highlighting his role in shaping discussions on Nigeria’s evolving media landscape.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that this milestone would bring Ishiekwene greater inspiration and wisdom while praying for his good health and continued success.
