President Tinubu mourns passing of broadcast icon Professor Tom Adaba

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned broadcasting pioneer Professor Tom Adaba, extending heartfelt condolences to his family, the government, and the people of Kogi State.

Professor Adaba, the first Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), passed away at the age of 83. His contributions to Nigeria’s broadcast industry were vast, spanning roles in teaching, mentoring, administration, and consultancy.

President Tinubu highlighted Adaba’s significant influence as the first principal of the NTA Television College in Jos, an institution credited with shaping many professionals in the Nigerian television industry and across neighboring African countries.

In his tribute, the President praised Adaba’s dedication to media development, mentorship, community service, and philanthropy, noting that his name remains central to the history of broadcast deregulation and media scholarship in Nigeria.

“May his legacies live on in the many professionals he trained, the scholarly books he authored, and the integrity he brought to public office,” President Tinubu said.

The President offered prayers for the peaceful repose of Professor Adaba’s soul and extended comfort to his family, friends, and all those mourning his loss.
