President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the people of Remoland and the Ogun State government following the passing of Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu Basibo, the revered Alaperu of Iperu-Remo.

In a statement released on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu described the late monarch as a symbol of peace, tolerance, and prosperity throughout his 22-year reign.

The President praised Oba Basibo for bringing “dignity and grace to the throne of Akesan-Odoru” and fostering harmony within his community.

Recognizing the monarch’s influence beyond his immediate domain, Tinubu acknowledged Oba Basibo’s role as a nurturing father figure to many, including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who hails from the late king’s jurisdiction.

The President commended Oba Basibo as a dedicated community leader who worked tirelessly to promote governance that prioritized the welfare of the people.

He highlighted the monarch’s enduring legacy of respect, wisdom, and leadership, particularly his contributions to Egbe Bobakeye, an age-grade association in which he was highly respected.

“His candid advice and invaluable contributions to leadership will be fondly remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him,” Tinubu stated.

As the late monarch is laid to rest, the President expressed confidence that Oba Basibo’s legacy would continue to inspire future generations. He also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the royal father’s soul.
