President Tinubu visits flood-hit Maiduguri

President Bola Tinubu visited Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday to assess the damage caused by recent devastating floods that have displaced thousands of residents.
This was revealed in a video posted by TVC via its X account.
“BREAKING: President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Maiduguri to commiserate with the government and the people of Borno State over the flood that destroyed residential houses, hospitals, markets, schools, and other public facilities,” the post read.
The President’s visit is part of his administration’s broader response to severe flooding affecting various parts of Nigeria, worsened by heavy rains and inadequate drainage systems.
Tinubu had returned to Nigeria on Sunday night following trips to China and the UK, where he attended several high-level meetings with top CEOs.
During his visit to Maiduguri, President Tinubu is expected to meet with state officials, local leaders, and visit areas affected by the flooding.
Flooding in Maiduguri and other regions has become an annual challenge, exacerbated by climate change and rapid urbanization. The destruction of homes, farmlands, and infrastructure has added strain to a state already grappling with a long-standing insurgency led by Boko Haram.
Humanitarian organizations have reported that the floods have displaced thousands, many of whom were already vulnerable due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
