PYL Summit 2024: APC inaugurates Progressive Young Farmers Network

As the 2024 Progressive Young Leaders Summit comes to an end, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated the Progressive Young Farmers Network.

The inauguration was attended by some ministers including Abdullahi Sabi Aliyu, Uba Maigari Ahmadu, Hannatu Musawa and Prince Shuaibu Audu. Others include Ambassadors/Consul of Zimbabwe, Bulgaria, Israel, Burundi, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Mexico, China alongside Zonal and State Youth Leaders.

Speaking at the inauguration, the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, said the inauguration of the Progressive Young Farmers Network was one of many initiatives that would empower Nigerian youth in years to come.

” As a farmer’s son myself, it gives me immense pride to have conceived this initiative, which will nurture the next generation of agribusiness professionals and I also extend our deepest gratitude to all our partners, participants, and stakeholders for their invaluable contributions. As we move forward, we remain committed to ensuring that the voices of Nigeria’s youth are heard loud and clear in the national discourse,” said Israel.

Assessing the impact of the summit, Israel said the summit not only created a platform for the exchange of innovative ideas but also generated concrete solutions to some of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges.

He added “The resounding success of the summit affirms the critical role that youth will continue to play in the nation’s development across sectors, from governance to technology and agriculture”.

The Summit which was attended by over 6000 youths across the 36 States aimed at fostering youth inclusion in governance, agriculture, technology, and economic growth, marked a significant step toward empowering the country’s future.

It took place at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja, from September 3rd to 5th,2024 and was declared open by APC National Chairman, His Excellence Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In a related development, the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel said that the 2-day training session on agribusiness and sustainable agricultural practices scheduled for Lagos reflects the ruling party’s steadfast commitment to equipping Nigeria’s emerging agricultural leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to lead the future of farming in the country.

The Office of APC National Youth Leader scheduled the 2-day training for Tuesday, September 10, and Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in collaboration with Galaxy Inter Link and the Progressive Young Farmers Network.

Israel said this in a press release issued on Monday, adding that the event was also put in place to ensure food security and economic growth for Nigeria.

The APC chieftain, who noted that the Progressive Young Farmers Network/Cooperative Society was recently inaugurated by the Minister of State for Agriculture, Abdullahi Sabi Aliyu, pointed out that this youth-led initiative aimed to revolutionise the agricultural landscape by equipping young farmers with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.

According to him, the move is a significant stride towards transforming agriculture in Nigeria, saying that the 2-day intensive training programme “is tailored for young farmers and agriculture enthusiasts eager to revolutionise their farming practices” as participants will gain hands-on experience and insights in three key areas.

Israel listed the three key areas to include: Water Harvesting for Smart Agriculture, Integrated Farming Systems for Sustainable Agriculture, and Modern Farming Techniques for Sustainable and Improved Agriculture.

He stated that trainees would, at the session, Learn cutting-edge water management techniques essential for modern, efficient farming, Explore innovative methods that combine various farming practices to boost productivity and sustainability and Discover the latest technologies and methods to enhance agricultural output while prioritising environmental stewardship.

“This intensive training programme is tailored for young farmers and agriculture enthusiasts eager to revolutionise their farming practices. Participants will gain hands-on experience and insights in three key areas:

“Water Harvesting for Smart Agriculture: Learn cutting-edge water management techniques essential for modern, efficient farming.

“Integrated Farming Systems for Sustainable Agriculture: Explore innovative methods that combine various farming practices to boost productivity and sustainability.

“Modern Farming Techniques for Sustainable and Improved Agriculture: Discover the latest technologies and methods to enhance agricultural output while prioritising environmental stewardship,” the APC chieftain said.

He added that “This training reflects All Progressive Congress’s steadfast commitment to equipping Nigeria’s emerging agricultural leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to lead the future of farming and foster sustainable agricultural practices, ensuring food security and economic growth for the nation. Join us in shaping a sustainable agricultural landscape for Nigeria.
“During the training, participant will get N50k each”.
