Rachael, her lesbian partner caught in the act

The war and hatred against LGBTQ is gathering higher momentum as there seems not to be any hiding place for the perpetrators of what is regarded as “perverted sexual relationship”
The African settings has zero tolerance for same sex marriage hence it is outlawed in Africa, especially Nigeria community across board. The religious settings including the traditional worshippers totally see this perversion as sacrilege, hence anyone caught in the act is never spared.
For Rachael and her lesbian partner Olawunmi caught in this act at the last Christmas attracted the rage of the overzealous members of the community in Akure, a major town in ondo state. It is said that such act is one of the causes of misfortunes like poor farm yield, epidemic , untimely death etc in the community which requires a thorough cleansing and appeasement of the gods of the land, this comes with a serious sanction and costs oftentimes human lives involved. The Christian extremist claimed it was a total disregard for the savior Jesus Christ whose birthday was celebrated.
Though Olawunmi was lucky to escape the mob actions by whiskers with some bruises unlike Rachael who was brutally attacked but for the intervention of the local security operatives in the community, she might have been lynched according to an eye witness who claimed anonymity. Definitely no hiding place for the lesbians and gays in our society.
According to the story, the alarm was raised by a neighbor who entered into the room claiming he has been suspicious of this unholy act before then. Rachael was eventually taken to the hospital for medical treatment but unfortunately, she could not make it after a few weeks at the hospital due to the severity of the attack on her. It was said that she died of internal bleeding and other complications. Efforts to reach the police authority at the time of this publication proved abortive.
The question is, Don’t they have rights to their lifestyle? However, this question could not be boldly raised in the society as it’s seen as total TABOO and it’s unacceptable with life costing penalties from anyone practicing it neither would their advocates be spared. Who will then champion the advocacy for the LGBTQ rights in Nigeria and Africa as a continent unlike some other parts of the world that embrace them and allow their integration to the society.
