Rainstorm destroys seven church buildings in Ilorin

A heavy rainstorm on Sunday evening wreaked havoc in Eyenkorin, Ilorin, destroying seven churches and damaging properties.

The affected churches include New Creation Baptist Church, Praise Baptist Church, Liberty Baptist Church, Salvation Baptist Church, Evangelical Baptist Church, God’s Love Church, and the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Success Parish), all in Eyenkorin.

Speaking on the incident, Rev. Femi Alagbe, pastor in charge of New Creation Baptist Church, confirmed the destruction, stating that the storm completely collapsed all seven churches, leaving properties in ruins.

“On Sunday, March 30, 2025, between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., there was a heavy downpour in Eyenkorin, Ilorin. The intensity of the rain and whirlwind caused severe damage, affecting seven churches in our neighborhood,” he said.

Rev. Alagbe called on the state government and well-meaning Nigerians to assist the affected churches and families during this difficult period.
