Reaction as NDLEA docked Nysun Cleaning Services employee over drug trafficking 

Reaction has continued to trail the arrest of Nysun Cleaning Services employee over roles in drug trafficking.           

The National Law Drug and Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) had arrested Ohiagu Sunday, an employee of Nysun Cleaning Services, who led a drug syndicate at the international airport.

Speaking to our westernpost on Sunday , a human rights crusader, Benjamin Barnes Arekameh, Esq. of Arekameh & Arekame’s Chambers, said the arrested of the 34-year Ohiagu Sunday, must be taken with all seriousness it deserves.

 According to him, the discovery and subsequent arrest of the cleaner who was said to have led a drug syndicate at the International wing of the New Murtala Muhammad Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, was a testimony to his clarion call for Justice, transparency and fairness in the operation of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Aviation Industry at large.

The Erudite lawyer noted that time and again, he has lodge a formal complaints on behalf of his clients, in respect of the illegality revolving around the awards of the Cleaning and Janitorial Services contracts, but has now been vindicated.

In his words; “there is no pretense anymore, I have incessantly make a formal complaint about FAAN, and top echelon in the Nigerian Aviation sector to the court on behalf of my client, who were not pleased with the flagrant abuse of law, order, and the manner in which their running contract was illegally terminated and awarded to other Cleaning Services Companies.

He noted that on occasions, he has channeled complaint to relevant agencies of government on behalf of two of his client, one ZAINAMIR CONCEPT LIMITED and Mr. Frank. Olu with suit no;  FHC /L /CS/1337/22,  FHC/L/CS/325/2022 and FHC/L/CS/586/2022, addressed to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices & Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), alleging infractions in the award of Cleaning and Janitorial Services in the airport.

He stressed that, the arrest of Ohiagu Sunday has further gives credence to the complaint of his client about the inefficiencies, lack of manpower and dearth in capacity of the current contractors of Cleaning and Janitorial services, one of which is the Nysun Cleaning Services, whose employee was nabbed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Speaking further, he revealed that with the recent developments, his outcry has been justified.

“I just hope this will send a signal to those concern, to investigative the procedure which led  to the contracts infraction.

Recall that the operative of the NDLEA, arrested Ohiagu Sunday, who leads a drug syndicate at the international airport.

According to the NDLEA, he was nabbed on Tuesday 23rd day of August, 2022 following the arrest of an intending passenger on AirPeace flight to Dubai, UAE.

Obinna Jacob Osita who was arrested with three bags, two of which contained eight blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 4.2kg concealed in cassava product, gari and Cray fish.

 One other member of the airport syndicate who works with Ohiagu has also been arrested while operatives are after another suspect.

Investigations revealed that a Dubai-based drug dealer recruited Obinna, a 42-year-old native of Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State to traffic the drugs and equally contracted, a 34-year-old airport cleaner from Orlu West Local Government Area of Imo State to create access for the unhindered passage of the trafficker.
