Reason FCCPC shutdown Sahad Store in Abuja

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) said its agents closed down Sahad Stores, a popular shopping mall in Abuja because the store was found to have been cheating its customers by overcharging them and offering different prices for the same product.
According to the commission’s statement, the staff at Sahad Stores were pocketing the excess money received from unsuspecting customers.
This, according to FCCPC, suggests that even the store’s owner was being robbed by such dishonest practices.
The Commission made the statement in reaction to several claims that the FCCPC sealed the store as a result of allegations of hoarding food commodities.
Describing the news as false, FCCPC said the Sahad store’s story is totally being mismanaged by mischievous media platforms chasing clout and sensationalism.
FCCPC said, “The workers in the store were fleecing the customers at will. They had different prices for the same product e.g
“Shaving Cream had 5 different pricing in their computer without brand differentiation. So if a consumer took shaving cream A brand to the counter, the cashier will pick any cost dependent on how “rich” you looked. So she can pick the price of shaving cream C which may be more expensive. Sebi all is shaving cream in the system!
“This way, when reconciliation is made with stock, the excess skimmed off unsuspecting customers is the staff’s windfall! Even the store owner is being robbed by such sharp practices!
“That was the offense!
