Rector condoles family, Kwara Poly community, over student’s demise

The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Abdulqoyum Bamidele, a National Diploma (ND II) student in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

In a statement signed by the Polytechnic’s spokesperson, Mrs. Halimat Garba, the Rector disclosed that the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, around the GRA in Ilorin.

The statement noted that the circumstances surrounding the young and promising student’s death remain unclear, with various unconfirmed reports circulating.

The Polytechnic Management assured the public that they are committed to ensuring that justice is served once the final report on the matter is released.

Engr. Muhammed commended the students for their restraint and for not taking the law into their own hands. He emphasized that as the investigation continues, the Polytechnic community remains steadfast in its pursuit of accountability and justice for Abdulqoyum.

The Rector also extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and the entire Polytechnic community during this difficult time. He prayed for God to grant the family, friends, coursemates, and the Polytechnic community the strength to bear this great loss.
