Renewable energy park in Nasarawa to drive local manufacturing — NASENI

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) says its Renewable Energy Industrial Park in Gora, Nasarawa State, is set to drive local manufacturing as construction work on the facility progresses steadily.
The 40-hectare park is designed as a multi-energy hub aimed at boosting domestic production of renewable energy components such as solar panels, mounting racks, wind systems and biomass technologies, while reducing capital flight and conserving foreign exchange.
During an inspection of the project site on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the Executive Vice Chairman on Renewable Energy, Engr. Suyud Abdullahi Muhammad, said the initiative would significantly cut Nigeria’s dependence on imported equipment.
“There will be a wind assembly plant, small hydropower equipment production, and solar panel manufacturing. Renewable energy goes beyond just solar, and this park reflects that broader vision,” he said.
Muhammad noted that the project aligns with NASENI’s goal of reducing energy poverty, with over 80 million Nigerians lacking access to electricity and many others facing unreliable supply.
He added that the park is expected to generate about 2,000 direct jobs and up to 50,000 indirect employment opportunities across the value chain when completed.
According to him, the project will help localise renewable energy production and position Nigeria as a potential exporter of such technologies within West Africa and beyond.
The initiative is being executed in collaboration with private sector players, academia and other stakeholders, with construction handled by about 35 firms working on various facilities within the park.
