In the buildup to Saturday’s election, the Osun State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors on Wednesday mobilised its members in support of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
The state coordinator of the group, Hon. Sunday Akere, said during the “Walk for AMBO” in Osogbo that the mobilisation was aimed at demonstrating the group’s support for AMBO and informing residents that the time had come for change in the state.
Akere expressed confidence that Osun voters would vote massively for Oyebamiji on Aug. 15, saying the turnout for the walk demonstrated the level of support enjoyed by the APC candidate.
He said the group could mobilise more than 95,000 members across the state, adding that residents were tired of what he described as ineffective governance and wanted a governor who would deliver the benefits of democracy.
Meanwhile, the Director of Security of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Osun, Amos Adekunle, called for a peaceful and violence-free election and urged residents to come out and exercise their franchise.
Adekunle assured voters that adequate security would be provided during the election, adding that the votes would be counted and their choices respected.
Also, an APC chieftain, Adebowale Azeem, dismissed claims that the party was relying on federal influence to win the election, saying the turnout for the mobilisation showed that the APC enjoyed grassroots support in the state.
Similarly, a member of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Dr. Romoke Abiola, said women across the state would support Oyebamiji because of his proposed programmes for women, including microcredit initiatives and improved primary health care for women and children.
