RHI begins distribution of 3,000 bags of rice in Lagos

The Lagos State government has commenced the distribution of 3,000 bags of rice, courtesy of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. This initiative is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Social Investment Programme, aimed at providing relief to vulnerable populations in the state.

The official flag-off event was held at The Pavilion, Lagos House in Ikeja, drawing a diverse crowd of attendees, including representatives from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), religious groups, local government officials, persons living with disabilities (PLWD), and members of youth and women’s organizations.

Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State and the State Coordinator for RHI, represented Senator Tinubu at the event. She highlighted the importance of the food distribution effort, noting its focus on supporting families struggling amid the country’s economic challenges.

“This food outreach scheme is designed to offer much-needed support to families, especially considering the current economic situation in our nation,” Sanwo-Olu said during her address.

She further acknowledged the dedication of various organizations and groups in promoting community welfare and emphasized that the initiative is part of a larger mission to uplift and empower vulnerable communities in Lagos.

The distribution of the 25kg bags of rice forms a crucial part of RHI’s ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity and enhance the well-being of Lagos residents.

Participants at the event expressed their gratitude for the programme, with many hoping that similar outreach efforts will expand and provide more assistance to families across the state.
