Rivers political crisis over, says Wike following Tinubu’s latest intervention

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says the ongoing political tension in Rivers State between the executive and the legislature is expected to end following President Bola Tinubu’s recent intervention.

Wike described the president’s involvement as a fatherly effort aimed at resolving the long-standing disagreements between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the state House of Assembly.

“This is the second time the president is stepping in, and I am confident that this will be the final intervention needed to end the discord,” Wike said on Tuesday.

He added that all parties involved have been instructed to comply fully with the president’s directives, expressing confidence that they would not defy the orders. Wike also expressed optimism that Governor Fubara would fulfil his commitments under the agreement reached during the presidential mediation.

“This intervention is meant to ensure that the people of Rivers no longer witness this type of political discord,” Wike stated, emphasising the president’s role in restoring calm between the warring parties.
