Rivers State judiciary denies Chief Judge’s alleged one-year recess leave

The Rivers State Judiciary has strongly refuted claims that the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, is set to embark on a one-year recess leave.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chief Registrar of the Rivers State High Court, David D. Ihua-Maduenyi, Esq., described the report published by News Week Electronic Media Channel as “malicious, misleading, false, and baseless.”
“For the record, the Chief Judge has not announced, nor does he intend to announce, any form of extended recess leave,” the statement read.

“Such leave is entirely foreign to the judicial officers’ vacation calendar, which is publicly known to include only Christmas Vacation, Easter Vacation, and Annual Vacation.”
The judiciary urged the public to disregard the report, warning that it was a deliberate attempt to cause disaffection and confusion in the state.
Furthermore, the statement ordered the author of the publication, Jake Clifford, and the media outlet News Week Nigeria (www.newsweekng.com) to retract the story immediately or face legal consequences.
The Rivers State Judiciary reiterated its commitment to transparency and upholding the rule of law.
