Roby Ekpo rejects Mayowa Lambe’s ₦100m demand over alleged defamation claims

Media personality Robert Ekpo, popularly known as Roby Ekpo, has rejected the cease-and-desist notice issued by his estranged wife, On-Air Personality Mayowa Lambe, over statements made during a podcast interview.

Ekpo, through his lawyers at TAP Legal Services, described the ₦100 million demand for damages as excessive, baseless and premature, insisting he would vigorously defend any legal action brought against him.

The response, dated April 23, 2026, was shared on his official Instagram page, confirming receipt of Lambe’s legal notice through her representatives.

His legal team maintained that Ekpo categorically denies the allegations of defamation, stressing that his statements were based on personal experiences and understanding of events within the relationship.

They argued that there was no malice or intent to injure Lambe’s reputation, adding that the matter stems from a complex personal relationship that cannot be selectively presented to the public.

“Any statements made by him, whether privately or on public platforms, were based on his personal experiences, understanding of events, and matters he reasonably believes to be true. At no time did he act with malice or with the intent to injure your client’s reputation,” the notice read.

The lawyers further dismissed the deadline given in the notice as unreasonable, while also stating that Ekpo has documentary and testimonial evidence contradicting several of the claims made against him.

The response also indicated that Ekpo reserves the right to file counterclaims for harassment, intimidation and reputational damage should the matter proceed to court.

The dispute follows Ekpo’s appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he spoke about the breakdown of the marriage, while Lambe’s legal team insists the union was mutually dissolved before May 11, 2025.
