Rwanda coach Amrouche dreams of positive outing against Nigeria

Newly appointed Rwanda national team coach, Adel Amrouche, believes his side can achieve something positive against Nigeria when both countries meet later this month.

He has vowed to do “something special” with Group C leaders ahead of the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles.

The Algerian was appointed as Rwanda’s new coach to lead the team in the remaining qualifiers in a group comprising Nigeria, Benin Republic, South Africa, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe.

Rwanda will host the Super Eagles in Kigali on March 21 as part of the qualifying tournament.

“We should believe we can do something special,” Amrouche declared after starting his work with the Amavubi.

“I will do my best to achieve success, but I alone do not have a magic wand. Together, we will make Rwanda one of the best teams in Africa.”

Rwanda leads Group C with seven points, tied with South Africa and Benin but ahead on goal difference. Lesotho is fourth with five points, Nigeria is fifth with three points, and Zimbabwe sits at the bottom with two points in what is proving to be a very open qualifying group.
