Sanwo-Olu approves key commission appointments, targets improved service delivery

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved the nomination of five members into the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots administration and improving service delivery across the state’s councils.

The nominations were conveyed in a circular dated Thursday, April 16, 2026, issued by the Office of the Head of Service at Alausa, Ikeja, as part of efforts to ensure the smooth and effective running of statutory commissions.

The nominees include former Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area, Hakeem Adisa Bamgbala; former Chairman of Ojo Local Government, Yinka Durosinmi; and former Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Shamusudeen Abiodun Olaleye.

Also nominated are Mr Ahmed Seriki and former Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Mrs Folashade Olabanji.
Their appointments are, however, subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly, in line with extant laws guiding such nominations.

According to the circular, the move forms part of broader reforms to reinforce institutional capacity within the local government system, which plays a critical role in delivering essential services at the grassroots.

The Head of Service, Bode Agoro, explained that the nomination process aligns with statutory provisions guiding the composition of the commission, stressing that the appointments will only take effect upon legislative approval.

In addition, the governor approved nominations into the Audit Service Commission and the Health Service Commission. While nominees for the Audit Service Commission include Mrs Kikelomo Arinola Dawodu, Mrs Bukola Ogunnowo, Ms Omotayo Gbajabiamila-Olamona, Mr Bowale Shosimi and Mr Sunday Kappo, those for the Health Service Commission—whose appointments take immediate effect—are Dr Olukayode Olumuyiwa Oguntimehin, Dr Olusegun Abayomi Ogboye, Dr Omolaja Olushola Odunuga, Pharm (Dr) Moyosore Wuraola Adejumo and Dr (Mrs) Ololade Omotayo Fadipe.
