The governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday joined millions of Nigerians to honour the fallen heroes.
WesternPost reports that the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony was held across the country.
Laying the wreath at the Remembrance Arcade, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, the Governor said the event was a yearly routine to recognize and honour fallen heroes and members of Armed Forces who had served Nigeria in one form or the other.
Sanwo-Olu said the occasion was significant as it had become a national day to pray for the departed soul, the incapacitated security personnel and serving military officers.
He thanked God for the event as it was an opportunity to appreciate the efforts of the fallen heroes and security personnel, saying that government would continue to appreciate them.
A minute silence and gun salute were observed in honour of the fallen heroes.
White pigeons were released and prayers were offered for them as well as members of Armed Forces and families.
In attendance were Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, Cabinet Members, royal fathers, state government officials amongst other dignitaries.
