Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday marked the 74th birthday of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with the distribution of 20,000 food packs and a personalised letter to residents.
The food packs were shared across different parts of Lagos State during a symbolic ceremony held at the De Blue Roof Event Centre in Agidingbi, as well as in other locations across the state.
Top government officials attended the event, including the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, and the Special Adviser on Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Tajudeen Afolabi. Community leaders, youths, and women groups were also present in large numbers.
The initiative extended to religious centres, with food packs distributed to Christian and Muslim faithful at the Chapel of Christ The Light and the Central Mosque in Alausa. Thousands of residents across the 20 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas benefited from the exercise.
In an open letter to Lagosians, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged residents to celebrate the life and achievements of President Tinubu, whom he described as an extraordinary leader.
The letter, read by the CDC Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Mr. Segun Fayemi, expressed support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and encouraged citizens to remain hopeful about the country’s future.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner Gbenga Omotoso described the occasion as significant for Nigerians, noting that the initiative was designed to allow Lagos residents to celebrate the President while benefiting from a welfare programme.
Also speaking, Dr. Tajudeen Afolabi said the programme reflected the state government’s commitment to supporting residents and recognising President Tinubu’s contributions to national development.
