Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State, describing the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against insecurity and a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting lives.

The governor, in a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, expressed relief and joy over the victims’ release after more than 55 days in captivity. He said the successful operation underscored President Bola Tinubu’s resolve to tackle insecurity across the country.

Sanwo-Olu applauded President Tinubu for providing the leadership that made the rescue possible, noting that the outcome reflected the administration’s determination to confront criminality through coordinated security operations.

He also commended the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their professionalism, resilience and collaboration in securing the release of the victims.

The Lagos governor further expressed solidarity with his Oyo State counterpart, Governor Seyi Makinde, as well as the people of Oyo State, particularly residents of Ogbomoso, saying the successful rescue had brought renewed hope to the affected families and the wider Southwest region.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the operation serves as a strong reminder that sustained collaboration among security agencies remains essential to overcoming the country’s security challenges and ensuring the safety of citizens.

“The rescue is a big relief and shows the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the war against insecurity. I commend the tireless efforts and resilience of our gallant security operatives who made this possible. I equally rejoice with the people of Oyo State, particularly the residents of Ogbomoso, on this great news,” the governor said.

He expressed optimism that the success of the operation would further strengthen public confidence in the nation’s security architecture while encouraging continued cooperation between governments, security agencies and citizens in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
