Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday inaugurated a newly completed administrative building, legislative council chamber, and interlocking road project in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State. The multi-storey building, named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was reconstructed by Council Chairman Hon. Abdullahi Olowa to replace the old secretariat razed during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests.

The governor also performed the groundbreaking for Citrus Gardens, a housing project initiated by the council in partnership with private developers. He noted that the project signified a new chapter in the council’s rebuilding efforts after the destruction of its headquarters.

Sanwo-Olu praised the council’s leadership for demonstrating resilience and commitment to inclusive development. “These projects underscore our commitment to grassroots development and reflect the power of purposeful and transformational leadership,” he said.

He emphasized that the new administrative complex would restore operational efficiency and boost staff productivity. “The well-furnished legislative building complements the business of the local government for greater impact,” he added.

The governor said the projects are geared toward job creation and enhancing the council’s internally generated revenue. He noted that the infrastructure would promote orderly urban development and open access to undeveloped parts of the community.

In recognition of his administration’s support, the newly inaugurated road was named after Governor Sanwo-Olu. He said the road would improve mobility and stimulate economic activity in Ibeju-Lekki.

Sanwo-Olu also revealed plans to construct additional roads in the area, including the Eleranigbe Road, to improve connectivity around Omu Creek and support the ongoing Lekki infrastructure expansion.

“I make bold to inform you that we’ve started the bridge from Sangotedo and will cross Omu Creek to the Lekki Airport area. Once completed, it will open up the entire corridor,” the governor said.
