Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday inaugurated five newly upgraded roads in the Ikeja GRA area of Lagos State, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development across all parts of the state.
The roads commissioned include Oba Dosumu Street, Oduduwa Way, Sobo Arobiodun Street, Oduduwa Crescent, and Sasegbon Street.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Ayodele Fayose; Chairman of Air Peace Limited, Dr. Allen Onyema; and former National Legal Adviser of the APC and ex-Commissioner in Lagos, Dr. Muiz Banire, among others.
A visibly elated Sanwo-Olu described leadership as a responsibility that must be approached with diligence and a focus on the people’s welfare.
He emphasized that no part of Lagos State would be left behind in his administration’s developmental efforts, pledging to impact every community through infrastructural strides.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Olufemi Daramola, highlighted the importance of the project during the commissioning.
He said: “The network of roads we inaugurated today underscores this administration’s vision of transforming critical road networks and enhancing the living standards of our citizens. As we all know, Ikeja GRA has long held a prestigious position in Lagos.”
Daramola noted that Ikeja GRA is home to various commercial enterprises, including entertainment outlets, restaurants, financial institutions, and boutique hotels.
However, the area has faced challenges such as perennial flooding and deteriorated road networks due to increased commercial activity.
“In response to these challenges, the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, developed the Urban Regeneration Intervention Policy. This initiative aims to rehabilitate and upgrade critical roads in the state,” Daramola added.
He emphasized that the project exemplifies the government’s proactive approach to revitalizing infrastructure, ensuring Ikeja GRA remains a thriving and sustainable area for residents and businesses alike.
