Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the delivery of the Lekki International Airport and other key infrastructure projects across Lagos. He announced that aviation regulators would visit the state next week for a site inspection, marking the next phase of the airport’s construction, which is expected to attract future investments.

Speaking during a visit to Alaro City and the Universal One Development along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Sanwo-Olu was accompanied by members of the Lagos State Executive Council and top government officials. The Governor toured four major companies within Alaro City—Ariel Foods, BUA, TY Danjuma Logistics Park, and Universal Homes—spending over two hours inspecting ongoing developments.

He also revealed that work on the Green Line Rail, connecting Marina to Lekki, would soon commence, with funding arrangements already in progress. The rail project, along with other infrastructure, is aimed at boosting economic activities and improving connectivity in the region.

Sanwo-Olu praised Alaro City for its well-laid infrastructure, which has encouraged businesses and investors. He credited President Bola Tinubu for initiating the Lekki Free Trade Zone two decades ago, noting that the area has witnessed significant growth since then.

“Alaro City is a success story. We encourage investors to take advantage of the opportunities here. The Lekki-Epe Expressway will continue to open up new investment prospects,” he said.

He highlighted the long-term vision for the corridor, emphasizing that the Green Line Rail and other transformative projects would reshape the region within the next decade. “There are additional life-changing projects beyond what we have seen in the last 10–15 years,” he added.

Chairman of Alaro City, Ayo Gbeleyi, described the Lekki Free Trade Zone as a prime investment destination due to Lagos State Government’s extensive infrastructure development in the area.

Managing Director of Alaro City, Yomi Ademola, praised the government’s partnership with private organizations, which has attracted significant investments and job opportunities. He commended the Sanwo-Olu administration for delivering key projects, including the Lekki Deep Sea Port, the six-lane rigid pavement Lekki-Epe Expressway Phase I, and the proposed Lekki Airport and Green Line Rail.
