Sanwo-Olu to commission upgraded Demurin-Agidi Road, others in Kosofe

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to commission a new set of road infrastructure projects in the Kosofe Local Government Area on Thursday.
The projects include the upgraded Demurin Road, Agidi Road, and Church Street in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), further enhancing connectivity and easing movement for residents.
According to a statement by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of the projects, stating, “It is all about boosting connectivity and making life more comfortable for our people.”
The newly rehabilitated roads will serve as alternative routes to the Third Axial Road and Ikorodu Road, improving access for commuters.
The statement highlighted that the Demurin-Agidi Road is a major arterial route linking Ketu, a densely populated area with thriving markets and residential estates, to other parts of the local government. It serves as a critical bypass to Ikorodu Road, connecting Alapere Housing Estate, Ramond Estates, and Sterling Heights Estate in Ajelogo. In addition, the road facilitates movement to major commercial hubs such as Mile 12 International Commodities Market and Owode Onirin Auto Parts Market.
Over time, heavy traffic and inadequate drainage structures led to severe deterioration of the Demurin-Agidi Road, causing congestion and hardship for road users. Recognizing its economic and social importance, the Sanwo-Olu-Hamzat administration approved a full-scale rehabilitation and upgrade to ensure durability and improved travel conditions.
