Sanwo-Olu urges Lagos APC members to embrace e-registration

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to actively participate in the party’s ongoing electronic registration exercise, describing it as a civic duty and a requirement for genuine membership.
The governor made the call on Tuesday after registering at Ward 3, Lagos Island, as the APC commenced its ward-by-ward e-registration exercise across the state.
Sanwo-Olu said the exercise, which began on Monday, January 5, 2026, is being conducted simultaneously across Lagos State and other parts of the country to digitally capture party members.
He disclosed that Lagos has 245 wards, each equipped with tablets, printers, internet connectivity and backup power supply to ensure a seamless registration process.

According to him, the e-registration requires members to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) for verification, confirm their personal details and have their photograph taken, after which a printed temporary membership slip is issued.
The governor explained that the exercise, scheduled to run throughout January, is aimed at ensuring all existing and new APC members formally validate their membership on the digital platform.

“This exercise is what will validate and confirm that you are a card-carrying member of our party. Every party member who truly wants to be called a member of the APC should take it seriously,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He expressed satisfaction with the process at his ward, noting that initial technical challenges had been resolved, and urged members—especially youths—to take advantage of the simple, free and transparent exercise, which he said reflects the APC’s commitment to modernisation and accountability.
