Sanwo-Olu urges LJLA fellows to embrace continuous learning, service

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) to embrace continuous learning, patience and service as they prepare for life beyond the fellowship.

Sanwo-Olu gave the advice on Friday while hosting the 2025/2026 cohort of the academy for their final mentorship session at Lagos House, Marina.

The session provided the fellows with an opportunity to engage directly with the governor and gain insights into leadership, decision-making and the realities of public service.

Sanwo-Olu told the fellows that effective leadership should be measured by the solutions delivered and the impact made on the lives of the people.

He also urged them to maintain the relationships they built during their time at the academy and contribute to a strong LJLA alumni network, saying the knowledge and experience gained should provide a foundation for continued service.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of LJLA, Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, thanked the governor for his support for youth development and leadership initiatives in the state.

Agbaje-Okunade said the mentorship session offered the fellows an opportunity to draw from Sanwo-Olu’s experience and gain a better understanding of the responsibilities that come with public leadership.

The engagement also featured presentations by the fellows, who shared policy recommendations on issues affecting Lagos State and proposed practical approaches through which young leaders could contribute to the state’s development. The session was attended by members of the Lagos State Executive Council and other senior government officials.
