Sanwo-Olu’s spokesman, Gboyega Akosile, to receive UNILORIN distinguished alumni award

Adegboyega Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to be honored with the prestigious University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) Distinguished Alumni Award.

The award ceremony will take place on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the university’s Multipurpose Hall as part of the 2024 convocation events.

Akosile, a respected media expert and journalist, is among a select group of Nigerians recognized for their exceptional leadership, innovation, and community service.

The award, announced in an October 10 letter signed by Abdullateef Hussain, National Social Secretary of the UNILORIN Alumni Association, commends Akosile for his professional accomplishments and commitment to societal development.

The letter stated: “Your outstanding achievements and contributions to your field, as well as your commitment to the values of the University of Ilorin, have made you an exemplary candidate for this honour. Your nomination is a testament to your hard work and dedication.”

Akosile, a versatile figure with a rich background in journalism, public relations, and theatre, has spent the past five years managing the media and public image of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration. His role involves coordinating communication between the governor’s office and other government ministries, ensuring the effective dissemination of information on key policies under the THEMES+ development agenda.

A graduate of UNILORIN, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performing Arts in 1996, Akosile also holds advanced degrees, including an MBA from Obafemi Awolowo University and a Master’s in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos.

Over his two-decade career, he has worked with prominent media organizations such as Channels Television, Cool FM, and Lagos Television, and founded Bridgeworld Communications, a media production company, in 2009.

Akosile is a member of various professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). His contributions to media, arts, and culture have also extended to theatre production, where he helped stage Ola Rotimi’s Kurunmi in partnership with Stagecraft Films and Productions Ltd.
