Saraki urges Abdulrazaq to tackle insecurity in Kwara

…as Bawa becomes state PDP chairman
By Mosunmola Ayobami, Ilorin –
Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State to take urgent and decisive action against the growing wave of killings, kidnappings, and the collapse of security, particularly in the northern and southern parts of the state.
Saraki warned that Kwara risked becoming a “one-town state,” noting that many residents from the senatorial districts were relocating to Ilorin in search of safety.
He made the remarks on Saturday at the state congress of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) held in Ilorin.

The former governor commended outgoing members of the state, local government, and ward executive committees for their service to the party. He particularly praised the leadership of the outgoing state chairman, Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, and charged the newly elected officers to serve the collective interests of party members.
The congress produced a new leadership for the party in the state, with Alhaji Issa Bawa emerging as Chairman. Other officers elected include Mrs. Wasilat Macarthy, Vice Chairman; Mal. Abdullahi Kayode, Secretary; Rev. Cos Fawenu, Treasurer; Hon. Umar Shero, Financial Secretary; Olusegun Samuel, Publicity Secretary; Bar. Monsurat Omotosho, Legal Adviser; Imam Musa Bashir, Auditor; and Hajia Aminat Ishola, Woman Leader.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Bar. Jacob Mark, announced that 1,572 delegates took part in the exercise, commending their orderly conduct as a reflection of Kwara’s status as the “State of Harmony.”
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Bawa expressed gratitude to party leaders for their support and promised to rebuild trust, promote unity, and provide equal opportunities for all members committed to advancing the PDP’s cause in the state.
