The leadership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Tuesday visited Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The delegation, led by the party’s presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, and the SDP National Chairman, Sadiq Umar Gombe, held a closed-door meeting with the governor in Ibadan.

Speaking after the meeting, Adebayo said the visit was to commiserate with the Oyo State Government and express solidarity with victims of the incident.

He said the delegation also discussed the broader security situation in the country, which he described as a national concern affecting several states.

Adebayo further criticised the Federal Government over rising insecurity, insisting that it has a constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property.

He also alleged poor management of security resources, calling for urgent action to address worsening insecurity across the country.
