SDP mourns Olubadan, Oba Olakulehin

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), led by the acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar has mourned the death of the Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who was elected to the House of Representatives on the ticket of the party in 1992.

The national leadership of the party condoled the government of Oyo State and the people of Ibadan on the death of a monarch, who did not only serve his people well, but also the nation in general, as a military officer in his younger days, and as federal legislator in the aborted Third Republic.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, the party said it recognises the late Oba as a unifier and major contributor to national development.

The party said It is very proud to have produced three successive Olubadans – the late Olubadan Lekan Balogun, and Olubadan Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away recently, adding “It is part of its glorious contributions to national development, and remarkable legacies to Nigeria’s democratic journey as well as the current Otun Olubadan, the next in line to the revered stool of Olubadan, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, who has previously served Oyo State as Governor”.

The party prayed for the repose of Oba Olakulehin and wished Oba Ladoja, who has also served Nigeria as a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic, under the banner of the SDP, the best of luck as he gets set to assume the exalted royal stool.

It prayed for the continued peace, growth and advancement of Ibadan, the homeland of greats.
