An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday adjourned the trial of the owner of Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, Dr. Rahmon Adedoyin and his six staff over alleged murder and interference with the corpse of Timothy Adegoke, an MBA student of Obafemi Awolowo University.
The adjournment was due to the ill health of the second defendant, Magdalene Chiefuna, who slumped moments after she was called into the dock.
At the resumed trial, the defendants and the state counsel, were arguing over the propriety of handing over the case to human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, who was in court, when the second defendant suddenly slumped.
She was coughing repeatedly before court clerks and corrections officials rushed to her rescue.
She was later taken out of the dock to a seat.
The incident prompted her defense counsel, to ask the court for an adjournment.
Presiding judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, stood down the case and then adjourned shortly to allow the defendant be attended to.
