Seeking proper understanding of the biblical “writing on the wall” to avoid misleading Nigerians, by Kola Amzat

In desperation to impugn the character of the president and what he stands for, as well as cast doubts and aspersions on the government policies, agenda and programs, public analysts and commentators who have sympathy for the opposition groups should always exercise restraint with a view to seeking proper understanding and knowledge of the information around the issues they are feeding the public, otherwise, they would continue to be subject of public ridicule, embarrassment and scorn.

This writer is particularly making reference to one Ilyasu Gadu who attempted to hoodwink members of Nigerian public by misconstruing and misrepresenting the facts and imports of the celebrated Biblical “Writing on the Wall”.

For emphasis, below is the account and comprehensive details of what transpired in the celebrated scripture:

“King Belshazzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine with them. While Belshazzar was drinking wine, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver goblets that Nebuchadnezzar, his father had taken from the temple in Jerusalem, so that the king and his nobles, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them. So, they brought in the gold goblets that had been taken from the temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives and his concubines drank from them. As they drank the wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, of bronze, iron, wood and stone. Suddenly, the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall, near the lampstand in the royal palace. The king watched the hand as it wrote. His face turned pale and he was so frightened that his knees knocked together and his legs gave way”. Daniel 5:1-6

“The king called out for enchanters, astrologers and diviners to be brought and said to these wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing and tells me what it means, will be clothed in purple and have a gold chain placed around his neck and he will be made third highest ruler in the kingdom” Daniel 5:7

25: This is the inscription that was written

MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN

This is what these words men

26 Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to end.

27 Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.

28 Peresh: Your kingdom is divided and given to Medes and Persians”

The crux of this piece: How on earth does this scripture relate and connect to President Tinubu and his government?

As at the last time this writer checked, Asiwaju Tinubu is still a Muslim and genuinely professes Islamic faith.

It’s also in the public domain that his wife-First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu is a devoted Christian and deeply rooted in Christendom, with many years at pastorate level in Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), even before the first family ascended to the topmost office in the land.

The Nigerian public deserved to be briefed by the mischievous analyst if this president in any banquet at Presidential Villa or in any other location has ever demanded a goblet from any church or Abuja Mosque for the purpose of drinking wine.

The populace also deserved to be educated if the president during his eight years reign as Lagos state governor was found culpable in such misdemeanor.

In contrast to King Belshazzar that his reign was abruptly brought to an end after his kingdom was divided and given to Medes and Persians, President Tinubu’s coast and kingdom is expanding by the day.

It’s in public domain that the president got inaugurated into office with 18 APC governors, 59 senators and about 200 House of Reps members.

As I write this piece, 31 governors, 89 senators and more than 289 House of Reps members are presently in the fold of the ruling party, and still counting.

More importantly, the president has been profoundly projected to dominate and completely overwhelm other presidential aspirants in the forthcoming polls with about 70%-75% votes cast majority, and also with the ruling party strengthening its fold with additional states and national assembly members.

The projection is anchored on the followings:

The impressive economic records with a continued impressive trade surplus, foreign reserves that presently stands at $48.33 billion, NGX that has crossed ₦150 trillion mark –indication of solid trust and confidence of local and foreign investors in the nation economy, and of course, humongous savings from fuel subsidy removal that have facilitated availability of huge monthly allocations to the three tiers of government, a tremendous development that has necessitated spring up of infrastructural facilities, medical and educational improvement, technological and digital architecture, as well as improvement in social facilities all across the country.

Secondly, the administration venturing into audacious road projects of Lagos-Calabar coastal express road, Lagos-Sokoto-Illela-Badagry express way, as well as Trans Saharan Road projects are all developmental initiatives that are unprecedented in the annals of this country.

Thirdly, the administration’s Petroleum, Power and Tax sector reforms, a strategic initiative with potential to completely turn the tide in economy landscape, ultimately places the nation in the midst of developed nations across the globe.

There are other milestones that have been recorded in healthcare, social investment schemes, education, even security etc that for want of space would not be subject of this piece.

Finally, it’s important to reiterate to Ilyasu Gadu and other public analysts who are always desperate to jump at any issue to embarrass the government that the onus is on them to always feed the public with facts and genuine information on all issues rather than mis-information, falsehoods, concoction and propaganda that would only subject them to ridicule and embarrassment in the eyes of the public

It’s also germane to stress that the office of President, Commander in Chief of Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria is sacred, as well as a symbol of authority of Nigerians and mustn’t be a subject of undue attack, contempt and ridicule.
