Segun Dada visits Ikorodu, promises more fed projects, supports market women

Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media, Segun Dada, has promised stronger federal government presence and collaboration in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State following an official visit to Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
During the visit on Monday, Dada said the Federal Government remains committed to supporting grassroots communities through development projects and improved service delivery, particularly in areas that demonstrate active democratic participation.
He made the remarks at the council secretariat where he was received by the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, alongside government officials, youth representatives and community stakeholders.
As part of the visit, the presidential aide distributed ₦100,000 grants each to 12 market women to support their small businesses. Beneficiaries described the financial support as timely, noting it would help them sustain and expand their trading activities despite current economic challenges.
Dada also commissioned a borehole water project in the Ire community aimed at improving access to clean water for hundreds of residents. The project was facilitated by the Ikorodu Youth Assembly to mark the 54th birthday of Babajimi Benson, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Community leaders said the water project would help address water supply challenges and improve public health in the area.
In addition, a solar power system was donated to provide electricity for the borehole and nearby street lighting, ensuring sustainable energy supply for the facility.
Speaking during the event, the LCDA chairman described the visit as an important step toward strengthening cooperation between federal and local authorities to accelerate development in the area.
