The Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has donated a brand-new 2025 Coaster bus to the Oluyin-in-Council in Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The gesture was announced during the 2025 Iyin Day Celebration held at the Oluyin’s Palace, where the lawmaker was conferred with the title of Olu Omo of Iyin Kingdom.
Bamidele also pledged to coordinate ₦500 million for developmental projects in Iyin and to share 20 per cent of the funds raised at the event with 36 other towns in Ekiti Central Senatorial District.
He said his decision was borne out of a sense of responsibility to the 36 towns whose community celebrations he could not attend, stressing the need for unity and shared development.

Bamidele explained that he chose to focus on Iyin’s “three-in-one celebration” — the annual Iyin Day, the 75th anniversary of the unification of the kingdom, and the fifth coronation anniversary of the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Oba Adeola Ajakaye.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, described Bamidele as the pillar and engine room of the Senate, noting his commitment to Ekiti and Nigeria’s development. “This man, your son, is the pillar of the Senate. Whatever he does, he thinks first of Ekiti, then of Nigeria. He works day and night to unite the Senate for the best interest of this country,” he said.
Barau also promised to support the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, facilitated by Bamidele, by constructing a building from his personal resources.
In his royal address, Oba Ajakaye described the event as “a celebration of unity, heritage, and progress.” He said the ₦1 billion fund being raised would finance projects such as a community pavilion, shopping complex, housing units, hall of fame, and youth empowerment initiatives.
