More than 8,500 households in Lagos East Senatorial District received food packs as part of Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration initiative.

The event held on Thursday, saw residents from 16 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas eagerly gathered in their communities to collect the food packs.

This generous act follows closely on the heels of Senator Abiru’s recent distribution of over 10,000 food packs to mark his 60th birthday, just 90 days ago.

The Senator, who serves as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions and the Chairman of the Southern Senators’ Forum, reaffirmed his dedication to improving the quality of life for his constituents and all Nigerians in his Sallah goodwill message.

Acknowledging the current economic challenges and the high cost of staple foods during the festive season, Senator Abiru urged patience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

He assured that the government’s policy decisions would soon yield positive outcomes.

Senator Abiru expressed hope that his food pack program would help alleviate the economic strain on Lagos East residents, complementing the Federal Government’s efforts to ensure food security and stabilize commodity prices, along with initiatives by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

This recent distribution is part of Senator Abiru’s ongoing commitment to humanitarian aid. Notably, his COVID-19 Financial Relief Scheme provided over N150 million to more than 2,500 vulnerable people in 24 months, with beneficiaries receiving N5,000 monthly.

The food pack distribution aims to bring joy to the residents of Lagos East and ensure they have a festive Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
