Osun APC: Senator Basiru’s worthy example

By Gbenga Akinwale
Senator Ajibola Basiru, Senate Spokesperson from Osun State while on Arise TV yesterday morning, exemplified the proper Omoluabi behaviour which Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola seems to have discarded.
It is now an open secret that Senator Basiru and Aregbesola are currently not on same political wavelength. Instead of pouring vitriol on Aregbesola on TV when Reuben Abati and Tundun Abiola asked him direct questions that gave him clear chance to tear at his former boss, he showed restraint and introspection over and above indecency. Senator Basiru said he would not say anything against Aregbesola who was his former boss and benefactor. Basiru clearly demonstrated that he is shoulder above Aregbesola in decorum, comportment, class and civility.
Aregbesola was so consumed by himself that he tore Asiwaju Tinubu, a man he called his biggest benefactor to shreds because of politics of self preservation and self-interest in Osun State.
I hope when the dust settles, Aregbesola, in his moment of reflection, will trace where he missed it and cause-correct. For now, he is fighting a lost battle. Governor Adegboyega Oyetola will triumph.
It must be said that Aregbesola picked a wrong fight. The current mood of the people in Osun State is overwhelmingly in support of contininuity for Oyetola. The people have seen the Governor brought stability to the state within 3 years. The people can also see visible and steady progress and a repudiation of some of the poor choices of the past. Loudly, Osun people are saying, Oyetola Leekan Si #ForABetterOsun!
