Senator Bulkachuwa reveals he influenced wife’s judgement to favour colleagues

Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa, representing Bauchi North, has alleged that his wife, Zainab Bulkachuwa, a former president of the Court of Appeal, utilized her judicial position to show favoritism towards his colleagues in the Senate.
Zainab Bulkachuwa, who made history as the first female president of the Court of Appeal, presided over significant cases such as the 2007 Sokoto State governorship election petition tribunal and a suit involving the challenge to the nomination of Seriake Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa State, as the flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
During the Senate’s valedictory session on Saturday, Bulkachuwa openly admitted that he influenced his wife’s decisions while she held her judicial office.
“Particularly, my wife, whose freedom and independence I encroached upon while she was in office,” the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker said.
“And she has been very tolerant and accepted my encroachment and extended her help to my colleagues.”
Ahmad Lawan, outgoing senate president who presided over the valedictory session, interrupted the senator before he spoke any further.
“Distinguished, I don’t think this is a good idea going this direction,” Lawan said.
The 10th house is expected to be inaugurated on June 13.
